The main reason for choosing the black glazed roof tile is that algae and mosses can hardly attach. This is due to the glassy coating that is applied to the roof tile during the glazing process. A strong bond is created between the glaze and the clay substrate during the firing process, giving the roof tile extra protection against dirt and weathering.
